About MSG...
Southeastern Michigan Mud, Sweat and Gears 4x4 Club was established in 1985 as club that enjoyed sand drags, mud bogs, and trail riding. Over the years, interests in four wheeling have changed and our club has evolved while maintaining its core values of being family-oriented and open to all off-road capable vehicles regardless of size or modification level. Current members enjoy trail riding in and around Michigan, including hosting the Drummond Offroad Adventure in August on scenic Drummond Island off the east coast of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Many of our members also have interest in rock crawling and travel to venues such as the Badlands, Windrock, and Tellico. We we aren't busy getting our rigs dirty, many MSG members attend local truck shows in support of local businesses and other clubs.
Our members also get together for social and charitable activities. The proceeds of our 50-50 raffle held during our Drummond Offroad Adventure are donated to local Drummond Island charities in thanks for the warm reception. Social events include getting together to work on each other's rigs, building club projects such as our RTI ramp, and nights out such as whirly ball, bowling and our annual Christmas Party.
Our members are from all over Southeastern Michigan with most members living in Macomb, Oakland, and Lapeer counties, but there is no requirement for living nearby. We have been growing for the past couple of years and currently have about 25 members of all ages; not including wives, girlfriends, and children. Vehicles range from stock to restored to highly modified. There are no requirements for driving experience; we range from seasoned veterans to dirt yuppies. We are members of the Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association and subscribe to Tread Lightly principles. We have monthly meetings that are hosted by members at their homes and most of our meetings last about an hour with time planned to stay and socialize after.
Our club is very active at the GLFWDA level. Our membership includes two past presidents of GLFWDA, and we continue to support the organization by helping out at events such as Sandorama, Convention, and trail clean-ups. Our Drummond Offroad Adventure is sanctioned by GLFWDA.
